Welcome to We Love Chocolate Labs.
This site is dedicated to the breed of dog we all know and love as the Chocolate Labrador. My name is Paul and my family and I are proud owners of a 4 year old male called Baron. I will shortly be posting some photos of Baron on here.
Let me first tell you a bit about him. We have only recently become his owners. We are his third home in his life. For the first three years he lived very happily but when his then owner got a new job she felt she couldn't give him enough time so passed him on to some friends of ours. They already had a Black lab they'd had since a pup, and after caring for Baron for a year they too felt they couldn't give him all the attention he deserved and that all their pets were a bit too much for them. When they said this a little light went off in my head! I am married and my wife and I have two lovely sons aged 10 and 6. I thought it would be good for them to have a pet and Baron seemed like the perfect solution, so after much discussion (My wife's biggest concern was the hair!) we decided we could give him a good home and bit the bullet.
Baron is a funny dog. He loves nothing more than finding the dirtiest and smelliest pool of water and swimming in it. He loves to chase balls and is great with the kids. In fact when the boys stayed with my parents for a week he seemed very depressed that they weren't there! He loves them dearly and they in return adore him. His other favourite hobby is to lay on his back for you to rub his belly. If you rub a certain part of him his back leg goes into an involuntary scratching motion which is actually quite funny and slightly perverse!
I will also be posting shortly a history of the breed once my research is complete. I hope you will find this blog informative and entertaining and would love to make contact with other owners and discuss all manner of chocolate lab subjects. Any advice on care would be great as we are new to the world of this great and beautiful breed.
